In short

Liftup Technologies provides Shopify SEO for stores selling in Japan, working remotely from India with calls booked in Japanese working hours. We set Japanese titles and descriptions, tidy URL handles, configure Markets and hreflang, add product markup in yen, fix duplicate collection URLs and speed up themes. Projects start at $1,500, with a fixed quote after a short call.

What matters on a Shopify store in Japan

Shopify gives a sound technical base, but it leaves many choices to the store owner. In Japan the main questions are language, URLs and product data. Shoppers search in Japanese, often on phones, and many compare products on marketplaces first. Your store needs pages that answer the question better than a marketplace listing does.

Most of the gains come from collection pages, product copy and clean markup, not from tricks. We begin with an audit of your current traffic and the pages that already earn clicks.

Fast mobile pages count for a great deal here. A theme with fewer scripts and sharp, compressed images often does more for conversion than a new design.

Product copy for Japanese buyers

Japanese shoppers read details: size, material, country of origin, care, delivery and return terms. We write product descriptions that put those facts in plain text, in a polite and clear register, and leave out claims you cannot support. Health and beauty items face limits on what a seller may say, and the Consumer Affairs Agency enforces rules on misleading representation, so your lawyer should check sensitive wording.

Collection pages get short intro text, buying advice and links to related collections. This gives search engines context and helps shoppers choose. Related work on the build side is in Shopify development for Japan and the wider ecommerce SEO plan.

We also add size charts, ingredient or material lists and care instructions as plain text tables, because shoppers read them closely and search engines can index them.

Merchant Center, speed and apps

  • Google Merchant Center feed with Japanese titles, JPY prices and correct shipping and return data, so products can appear in free listings and Shopping.
  • Theme speed: fewer apps, compressed images, subset Japanese fonts and lazy loading below the fold.
  • Review apps checked for markup that matches visible reviews.
  • Search Console set up for the store domain, with the sitemap submitted.
  • Redirects for removed products so old links lead somewhere useful.

Shopify's own help center documents Markets and domain setup, and Google documents hreflang. We follow both and test the live pages.

How the work runs

  1. AuditCrawl, Search Console review and a ranked fix list. Japan is 3.5 hours ahead of India, so 11:00 in Pune is 14:30 in Tokyo.
  2. Fix and rewriteTechnical fixes and Japanese copy for the highest-value collections first.
  3. Feed and markupMerchant Center and schema set up and tested.
  4. Monthly reviewImpressions, clicks and sales by collection, with the next set of changes.

We avoid large catalog changes just before Golden Week and the year-end sales period, when traffic is highest and a mistake costs more.

Common mistakes we fix

Stores often arrive with the same few issues: the home page title is just the store name, collections have no text, product titles are copied from a supplier in English, and several apps add their own structured data that conflicts with the theme. Another frequent one is an old redirect chain left from a previous theme or domain, which wastes crawl effort and slows pages.

We fix these in order of effect and note each change in a shared sheet, so you can see what was done and why. Nothing is changed in bulk without a backup of the product data.

Price

Projects start at $1,500, with a rate of $30 an hour, and a fixed quote follows a short call on the contact page. Catalog size, languages and the amount of copy to write move the price. The ecommerce SEO cost guide gives ranges, and our Shopify SEO service page describes the method.

Questions, answered

Should Shopify handles be in Japanese?
Short romaji or simple English handles are safer and easier to share. Titles and content on the page stay in Japanese.
Do we need a separate store for Japan?
Not necessarily. Shopify Markets can serve Japan from one store, though a separate store may suit different catalogs or tax setups.
Will Google Shopping list our products in Japan?
Products can appear if the feed meets Google's rules and shipping to Japan is set. Approval is Google's decision.
Which Shopify apps hurt SEO?
Apps that add heavy scripts or duplicate markup. We test speed and structured data before and after each app.
How soon will we see results?
Technical fixes can show in weeks. Content and ranking gains usually take a few months.
Can you translate our existing English store into Japanese?
We prepare the Japanese text for review by your native editor and set up Markets and hreflang. We do not paste raw machine translation into product pages.
