In short

Liftup Technologies provides Shopify SEO for Belgian stores, working remotely from India. We fix duplicate collection and product URLs, set up Dutch and French through Shopify Markets with correct hreflang, rewrite collection and product pages around real search terms, add structured data, speed up themes and report from Search Console. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Shopify SEO basics that still need work

Shopify handles many technical basics, such as sitemaps and canonical tags, but stores still lose traffic to avoidable problems. Thin collection pages, product titles copied from suppliers, filter URLs that create duplicates, heavy apps that slow the theme and missing structured data are common. In Belgium a further layer is added by language: a store that serves Flanders and Wallonia must present each language properly or search engines will mix them up. Our guide on how to improve SEO for a Shopify store covers the general method, and the Shopify SEO checklist is the quick check.

Dutch and French on one store

Shopify can show a store in several languages and markets from one admin. For Belgium that usually means Dutch and French, with prices in euros and VAT-inclusive display. Each language needs its own translated titles, descriptions, handles and meta text, and the language versions should link to each other with hreflang. Machine translation left unedited is a common weakness: product names and search terms differ between Flanders and Wallonia, and the shopper's words should win over literal translation. We research terms in each language, translate with a native reviewer from your side, and check that the language switcher keeps the shopper on the matching page. If you also sell to the Netherlands or France, those markets need their own review and not a copy of the Belgian setup.

Rules that shape the store

  • Consent. The Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD/GBA) enforces GDPR, so analytics and ad pixels need consent where required. A late-loading banner can also hurt speed.
  • Withdrawal right. Distance sales to consumers carry a 14-day withdrawal right in the EU. The return policy should be easy to find in each language.
  • Prices and VAT. Show prices the way Belgian shoppers expect, with VAT included for consumers, and check product schema matches the visible price.
  • Accessibility. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to many online shops. Themes should have usable keyboard navigation and readable contrast.

This is practical guidance and not legal advice. Ask your lawyer about your own shop.

Payments, trust and conversion

SEO brings visitors, but a Belgian shopper still needs a checkout they trust. Bancontact is the main local card scheme, and Payconiq is widely used for mobile payments, so check what your payment provider offers on your plan. Show delivery times and costs before checkout, offer pick-up points if you ship in Belgium, and display your company details clearly. These items also help conversion, which matters as much as ranking. We review them in the audit and tell you what to change, but we do not change payment settings without your approval.

Content that helps collections rank

Collection pages carry most of the search demand for a shop, because shoppers search for a type of product before a model. We write a short introduction near the top, then a buying guide below the products where it helps: sizes, materials, care, delivery and returns. Subcollections are linked from the parent, and blog posts link to the collections they support. In Dutch and French we research each term separately, since the common word for a product can differ between Flanders and Wallonia.

Working with us and pricing

We start with an audit of your store and Search Console, then send a ranked plan. After approval we apply fixes in the theme and content, or brief your developer. We are remote. Belgium is 3.5 hours behind India in summer and 4.5 hours behind in winter, so calls fit your morning. One lead owns the project and reports monthly.

Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour, in US dollars. Price depends on the number of products, collections and languages. See the Shopify SEO service page. A Belgian VAT-registered buyer normally reverse-charges VAT at 21% on our services; confirm with your accountant.

Questions, answered

Is Shopify good for SEO in Belgium?
It can be, if the theme is fast, the content is original and the languages are set up correctly. The platform alone does not rank a store.
Do we need separate domains for Dutch and French?
Not necessarily. Many stores use one domain with language folders and hreflang. We recommend the option that fits your brand and team.
Can you rewrite our product descriptions?
Yes, for key products first. A native speaker from your team should review Dutch and French text before it goes live.
Will removing apps hurt the store?
Only if the app does something you need. We test each one and remove those that slow the store without a clear benefit.
