In short

Liftup Technologies builds and customizes Shopify stores for French merchants, working remotely from India. We set up themes in French, TTC pricing, Cartes Bancaires and PayPal payments, delivery options, legal pages and cookie consent, and migrate from other platforms. Projects start at $1,500, and you get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Why French merchants choose Shopify

Shopify takes hosting, security and the checkout off your plate, so a small French team can sell without a developer on staff. The trade-off is that its defaults come from an English-speaking market. The default theme text, the order of checkout steps and the policy templates all need a pass before they suit France.

If you are choosing a platform, our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison covers the decision. For the broader choice of build route, see ecommerce development in France.

A third difference is trust. French shoppers read the delivery promise and the return terms before they enter a card number, and they distrust a store that hides a company name. A store that shows the company details, a real contact address and a clear delivery date converts better than one with a prettier banner.

Setting up Shopify for France

SettingWhat we configureWhy it matters in France
LanguageFrench theme text, emails and checkout, with a French localeThe Toubon law expects consumer information in French
Tax displayPrices shown TTC, TVA set at 20% for standard goodsConsumers expect the final price on the product page
PaymentsCartes Bancaires through your provider, PayPal, Apple PayMany French buyers use a CB card
InstallmentsAlma, Oney or Klarna where the price justifies themLarger baskets often need split payment
ShippingColissimo, Mondial Relay or Chronopost rates and pickup pointsDelivery choice shapes conversion

Availability of payment methods depends on your Shopify plan and country settings, so we check your account rather than assume. The Shopify Help Center is the reference we follow.

Checkout, legal pages and cookies

Check these with your adviser, since wording depends on your company.

  • The final order button should make clear that placing the order creates an obligation to pay.
  • A cookie banner must let visitors refuse as easily as accept, in line with CNIL guidance. We connect Shopify's customer privacy tools or a consent app so marketing pixels wait for consent.
  • Mentions légales identify the company, its address and its host. Shopify is the host, so confirm the details to display.
  • Product pages should show delivery times and return conditions, not hide them in the footer.
  • Accessibility matters: the European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to many online shops. We build themes toward WCAG 2.2 AA.

Our Shopify launch checklist is what we run before going live.

Migrations and apps

Many French stores arrive from WooCommerce, PrestaShop or an older Shopify theme. We move products, customers where consent allows, and redirect old addresses one by one so rankings survive. Customer data counts as personal data under GDPR, so we agree the transfer method with you first.

We prefer fewer apps. Each one adds script weight and a privacy question. Where an app is the right answer, such as reviews, subscriptions or a French delivery network, we choose one that is maintained and explain its data use.

A short list of what we test after a migration: old product addresses redirect to the matching new ones, the sitemap lists only live pages, French titles survive, and order emails arrive in French with the correct legal footer.

How the project runs

France is 3.5 to 4.5 hours behind India. We hold weekly demo calls in your morning on a staging theme, and you test with your own French orders. A single lead owns the store, and the Shopify account, domain and theme code stay in your name.

Search matters as well as design, so we pair the build with the Shopify SEO page for France when you want help ranking.

Pricing guidance

Projects start at $1,500 and the hourly rate is $30. A themed store with a small catalog sits at the start of the range. Custom sections, product bundles, subscription logic, migration size and each extra language add to it. Shopify's own subscription and app fees are paid to Shopify and are separate. The Shopify store cost guide breaks down the numbers, and our Shopify development service page explains scope.

If you only need a few changes, such as a French checkout review, a theme fix or one custom section, we can quote that as a small project at the same hourly rate instead of a full build. Tell us what you already have on the contact call and we will size it honestly, including when a store needs very little.

Questions, answered

Can Shopify show prices including TVA?
Yes. Shopify supports tax-inclusive pricing and we set it up for French consumers. Your accountant should confirm rates for your products.
Can I accept Cartes Bancaires on Shopify?
Usually yes, through a supported payment provider. Availability depends on your account and country settings, so we check them at the start.
Will you migrate my store from PrestaShop or WooCommerce?
Yes. We move products and content, set up redirects and test the result before the switch. Customer data moves only in a way that respects GDPR.
Does the store need a French cookie banner?
If you use marketing or analytics scripts that need consent, yes. We configure it so refusing is as easy as accepting.
Who owns the store?
You do. The Shopify account is in your name, and we work as a collaborator that you can remove at any time.
