Denmark web development
Web development agency for Denmark
A Danish website has to satisfy GDPR, Danish cookie rules and visitors who expect Danish text and local payment methods. We build these remotely from India, and this page lists what we check before launch.
In short
Liftup Technologies builds websites for Danish businesses with GDPR-compliant consent, Danish-language structure (da-DK), local payment options such as MobilePay and Dankort, and accessibility checks aligned with the European Accessibility Act. Calls run in the Danish afternoon, 3.5 to 4.5 hours behind. You get a fixed quote after a short call.
The Danish pre-launch checklist
Denmark is a small market with high expectations. Visitors are comfortable in English, yet they still trust a site more when the buying journey is in Danish. This is the list we run through before a Danish site goes live.
- Language: Danish pages with proper hreflang tags (da-DK), and English as a deliberate second version, not a machine translation of everything.
- Cookie consent: no analytics or advertising cookies before the visitor says yes, and a button to withdraw consent that is as easy as giving it.
- Privacy notice: written in Danish, naming who is the data controller and which processors, including hosting and email tools, touch the data.
- Company details: CVR number, address and contact route visible in the footer.
- Payments: MobilePay and Dankort offered next to cards if you sell to consumers.
- Accessibility: keyboard use, contrast, labels and error messages tested against the standards behind the European Accessibility Act.
- Forms: only the fields you truly need, with a short sentence on why you ask for each.
GDPR, Datatilsynet and the cookie rules
Denmark applies GDPR together with its own Data Protection Act, and the regulator is Datatilsynet. Cookies are covered by a separate national order that requires informed consent for anything that is not strictly necessary. Regulator guidance has treated scrolling or simply continuing to browse as not enough, so a banner with only an OK button is a risk.
There is also a transfer question that affects agencies like ours. India does not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, so if a Danish company gives personal data to a processor in India, a transfer tool such as the standard contractual clauses is normally needed, plus a data processing agreement. We recommend building and testing on fake data, so this paperwork stays small. If the project needs real customer records, we talk about access limits and the agreement before anyone touches the data.
This is practical guidance from a developer, not legal advice. Your lawyer or data protection adviser makes the final call on consent wording and transfers.
Time zones: Denmark to India
Denmark is on Central European Time in winter and Central European Summer Time from late March to late October. Europe changed clocks on 25 October 2026, so right now Denmark is on winter time.
| Danish time | Winter, India shows | Summer, India shows |
|---|---|---|
| 09:00 | 13:30 | 12:30 |
| 12:00 | 16:30 | 15:30 |
| 15:00 | 19:30 | 18:30 |
| 16:30 | 21:00 | 20:00 |
A Danish morning call lands in the Indian afternoon, and a Danish afternoon call is evening in India. Danish offices usually close early, so we plan review sessions before lunch Copenhagen time. For a few weeks around each clock change, the gap between the US and Europe differs from normal, which matters if your team also includes American colleagues.
Prices, currency and VAT
Danish projects are normally discussed in kroner, and our proposal states the currency and payment schedule explicitly. We do not publish prices for our own work; you get a fixed quote after a short call.
For a Danish company buying a service from India, VAT is usually handled by the buyer through the reverse charge mechanism, but that depends on your registration, so confirm it with your accountant before you sign. Danish consumer sales through your site are a separate matter: your shop must display prices including 25 percent VAT and describe the 14-day right of withdrawal in the terms.
Which platform fits a Danish project
Shopify suits stores that need MobilePay and shipping carriers already supported by apps; see our Shopify development page. A service company with a marketing team that updates text weekly is usually better served by WordPress or Webflow. Software companies expecting logins and dashboards are a case for custom web apps.
As reference points, we built MVR LSM Clinic, a healthcare website that sells an online program and books consultations, and VK Magic, an online course website. Both involve sign-ups and payments of the kind a Danish clinic or training business would need, although neither client is Danish.
