In short
Liftup Technologies provides technical SEO for New Zealand websites, working remotely from India. We audit crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects and hreflang for en-NZ and en-AU, then fix issues or brief your developer. We work from Search Console data and server logs. Calls fall in your afternoon. You get a fixed quote after a short call.
What a technical audit covers
Technical SEO is about making sure search engines and AI tools can reach, read and trust your pages. Most problems are ordinary: pages blocked by mistake, duplicate versions of the same URL, slow templates, broken redirects after a redesign or structured data that does not match what visitors see. Our SEO audit checklist shows the order we work in.
| Area | What we check | Typical Kiwi issue |
|---|---|---|
| Crawling | robots.txt, sitemaps, internal links, server errors | Staging sites left open, or shop filters creating thousands of URLs |
| Indexing | Index coverage in Search Console, canonicals, noindex tags | Old .co.nz and .com versions both indexed |
| Speed | Core Web Vitals on mobile, image weight, scripts | Heavy themes and chat widgets on slower rural connections |
| Structure | URL patterns, redirects, pagination, breadcrumbs | Region pages that repeat the same text for each city |
| Markup | Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, FAQ schema | Opening hours or prices that differ from the visible page |
| International | hreflang, currency, language tags | NZ and Australian pages competing with each other |
Domains, hosting and speed for a Kiwi audience
A .nz or .co.nz address is the clearest signal that a site serves New Zealand, and the .nz space is open to registrants worldwide under the Domain Name Commission's rules. Keep the registration in your own name. If you also hold a .com, pick one main version, redirect the others with a single permanent redirect and set canonicals to match.
Server distance affects speed. A site hosted in Europe or North America can feel slow to Auckland visitors, so we look at hosting region, a content delivery network and caching. We measure with Chrome field data where it exists, since that reflects real visitors. Our Core Web Vitals checklist and free Core Web Vitals check cover the details.
New Zealand and Australia together
Many Kiwi businesses sell across the Tasman. Where content or prices differ, hreflang tags for en-NZ and en-AU tell Google which page suits which searcher, and each page must point back to the other. Where content is identical, one page is usually better than two near-copies. Our hreflang generator builds the tags, and our international SEO service covers wider setups. We also check currency, delivery wording and spelling so that each version reads naturally.
Te reo Māori place names and macrons need care too. Page titles, headings and schema should carry the correct characters, while URLs stay in plain letters so links do not break.

Redesigns and platform moves cause most ranking drops. We map every old URL to a new one, test redirects before launch and watch Search Console afterward. The website migration checklist lists the steps.
Tracking is part of technical SEO. New Zealand has no cookie law, but the Privacy Act 2020 still applies to personal information that analytics and tag tools collect. Your privacy statement should describe what you use, and form fields should not send names or email addresses to analytics tools by accident. Information privacy principle 12 covers disclosure abroad, and many analytics providers store data overseas, so ask your lawyer to confirm what your setup needs.
How we work
- Crawl and data pullA full crawl plus Search Console, analytics and, where available, server logs.
- Prioritised reportIssues ranked by effect and effort, each with the page, the cause and the fix.
- Fix or briefWe make the changes on your CMS or hand a clear ticket list to your developer.
- Re-checkA second crawl and a monthly look at indexing and speed.
Reports avoid jargon where we can. Each finding names the affected URLs, explains the cause in a sentence and gives the fix in a form your developer or site editor can act on. We also note what not to change, because well-meant tweaks to titles, redirects or templates can undo months of steady progress.
New Zealand is 6.5 or 7.5 hours ahead of India, so a late-afternoon call with you is a morning call for us. We work remotely and have no New Zealand office.
Cost
Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour, in US dollars. Site size, platform and the number of templates move the price. The SEO audit cost guide explains how audits are scoped. Ask your accountant how GST applies to services bought from an overseas supplier. See the technical SEO service page for more.
