In short

Liftup Technologies provides technical SEO for Danish websites, working remotely from India. We crawl the site, read Search Console, and fix crawling, indexing, hreflang, speed, structured data and migration issues, including Danish-specific ones such as æ ø å in URLs and consent banners that hide content. Results are reported from your own accounts. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

The Danish technical checklist

Most technical problems are universal: broken redirects, duplicate pages, slow templates, blocked resources. A handful show up more often on sites serving Denmark, and we check them first.

Language, domains and hreflang

Google dominates search in Denmark, so Bing and others rarely change priorities, though we submit sitemaps to Bing as well. The structure question is more important: a .dk domain, a Danish folder on a .com, or a subdomain. Each can work if applied consistently. The .dk registry, Punktum dk, publishes its registration rules, which are worth reading before you move.

Hreflang needs tags on both pages in each pair, plus a self-reference, plus an x-default where it makes sense. Mistakes are common, so we validate the full set rather than sampling. Our hreflang generator builds the tags, and the technical SEO checklist lists everything else we test.

Consent, measurement and what Googlebot sees

The Danish cookie order requires consent before non-essential cookies, and Datatilsynet oversees compliance with GDPR. Consent tools are legitimate, but they sometimes cause technical SEO side effects: scripts that block rendering, layout shifts when the banner loads, tags that fail after a reject click, or content that loads only after acceptance.

  • We test the page as Googlebot sees it using Search Console's URL inspection and a rendered crawl.
  • We measure layout shift with and without the banner, since it often drives the CLS score.
  • We confirm that rejecting cookies still gives the visitor the full page.
  • We rely on Search Console for visibility data, because analytics under-counts visitors who decline.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Core Web Vitals are measured on real visitors, so a site hosted close to Denmark and delivered through a CDN usually performs better than one served from a distant region. We read field data first, then lab tests, and fix the biggest contributors: images, fonts, third-party scripts and JavaScript. Fonts need care in Danish because subsets that drop æ, ø and å cause fallback fonts and visible shifts. Our Core Web Vitals checklist is the working document.

Rendering, schema and crawl control

Many new Danish sites are built on JavaScript frameworks. Google can render them, but slowly and with limits, so critical content and links should be in the first HTML response. We compare the raw and rendered versions of key templates and flag anything that appears only after scripts run.

  • Structured data: Organization with the CVR number as an identifier where useful, Product and Offer with DKK, BreadcrumbList, FAQ only where the page truly has questions.
  • Robots rules: block internal search results and cart paths, never block CSS or JavaScript files that pages need.
  • Sitemaps: only canonical, indexable URLs, with separate files for Danish and English if both exist.
  • Log files, when available: show how often Googlebot visits and which sections it ignores.

Our schema markup generator helps with the code, and we validate the result against Google's documentation.

Migrations and redesigns

A redesign or platform move is the riskiest moment for Danish organic traffic. We crawl the old site, map every URL, write redirects, keep titles and structured data, and compare indexation daily for weeks after launch. Danish URLs with special characters get a one-by-one check. The website migration checklist is our runbook.

How we work and what it costs

We deliver a prioritized list with the evidence for each item, then fix with your developers or ours. A weekly call falls in the Danish morning or early afternoon, since Denmark is 3.5 to 4.5 hours behind India. Projects start at $1,500, and extra hours cost $30. Larger sites with many templates, JavaScript rendering or several language versions cost more. See our technical SEO service and the SEO audit cost guide.

Questions, answered

Should we use a .dk domain?
It is a strong local signal, but not required. We compare it with a folder on a .com for your case, including the cost of moving.
Does a cookie banner hurt rankings?
Not by itself. Problems come from banners that cover content, shift the layout or block rendering. We test for those.
Can you work with our developers?
Yes. We write tickets with clear acceptance checks and review the result on staging.
How do you prove results?
With Search Console data from your property: indexed pages, impressions, clicks and Core Web Vitals field data.
Is structured data in kroner?
Yes. Product markup should use DKK and the consumer price, matching what the page shows.
