In short

Liftup Technologies builds SaaS products for Australian startups and established firms, working remotely from India. We scope a first release, design the data model and billing, build the app on Next.js, React and a managed database, and deploy it in cloud accounts you own. A fixed quote follows a short call within one working day, and projects start at $1,500.

Who this is for

Australian founders usually come to us in one of three positions. Some have a validated idea and need a first release. Some run a service business and want to turn a repeated process into a product. Others have a spreadsheet or an internal tool that customers now ask to use. In each case the first job is to cut the scope to what a paying customer needs on day one.

We prefer to build a small, working product and then improve it with feedback. Our MVP development service covers that early stage, and the SaaS development service page covers the full product build.

What a first release usually contains

ComponentWhat we buildAustralian detail
Accounts and rolesSign-up, login, teams, permissionsEmail verification and clear consent
BillingSubscriptions, trials, invoices, upgradesGST at 10% shown on tax invoices; ABN field for business buyers
Core featureThe one workflow customers pay forDefined with you in the scoping call
Admin areaCustomer list, support tools, usage viewAccess logging for privacy reviews
Email and noticesReceipts, alerts, password resetsSpam Act 2003 consent and unsubscribe for marketing email
HostingCloud deployment, backups, monitoringRegion choice discussed with you

We usually build with Next.js or React on the front end and a managed database such as Postgres. For billing we use Stripe and its documentation on tax settings. If you are choosing a backend, our Supabase vs Firebase comparison explains the trade-offs.

Billing, GST and invoices

If your annual turnover is above the registration threshold, you charge GST on sales to Australian customers, and your tax invoices need certain details. These include your ABN and the GST amount. We configure Stripe so that tax is calculated and shown, and so invoices can be downloaded by the customer. Your accountant should confirm the settings, and we build around their advice.

Selling to customers abroad changes the tax position again, and so does selling to businesses in other countries. We keep tax settings in configuration, so they can be adjusted without a rebuild. Many Australian SaaS firms also connect billing data to Xero or MYOB for bookkeeping, and we can add that integration after launch.

Prices are often shown in Australian dollars to local customers, with a different currency for overseas ones. Stripe supports multiple currencies, and we design the plan structure so the same product can be sold in each.

Privacy and security for Australian customers

  • Privacy Act 1988: if your business is covered, the Australian Privacy Principles apply to personal information you hold, including collection notices, access and correction, and security. We build features for export and deletion requests.
  • Overseas disclosure: APP 8 deals with sending personal information overseas. Our team in India may access test and support data, so we agree access rules with you and keep production data to the minimum needed.
  • Data breach rules: the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme may require notice to the OAIC and to affected people. We add audit logs and alerting that help you spot and report an incident.
  • Security basics: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, role checks on every request, backups, and separate staging and production environments.
  • Larger customers: government and enterprise buyers may ask about the Essential Eight. We can help you prepare honest answers, but we do not certify compliance.

Ask your lawyer which obligations apply to you. We build the product so that meeting them is practical.

How a project runs from India

We work remotely, and you get one named lead. We run weekly demos on a staging link, in the overlap between the Australian afternoon and the Indian morning. Perth is 2.5 hours ahead of Pune, Brisbane 4.5, and Sydney and Melbourne 4.5 or 5.5 depending on daylight saving. You see working software every week, and feedback you send at the end of your day is often addressed before you start the next.

Source code lives in a repository in your account from day one. Cloud, domain, payment and email accounts are yours. If you decide to bring development in house later, you can take everything with you.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A simple internal tool or prototype sits near the start. A full multi-tenant product with billing, roles, integrations and an admin area is larger. Scope, the number of integrations, reporting, and mobile needs drive the price. See the SaaS MVP cost guide for typical ranges. We give a fixed quote for the agreed first release, and extra features are quoted before work begins.

Questions, answered

Can you build only the first version?
Yes. Most clients start with a small release, then add features after real users arrive. We scope so the first release can be extended without a rewrite.
Do we need a technical co-founder?
Not to start. You do need a product owner who can make decisions each week. We provide the engineering lead and explain choices in plain language.
Who owns the code?
You do. It sits in a repository you control, with the cloud accounts in your name.
Can the data be hosted in Australia?
Often yes, depending on the cloud and database provider. Tell us early if your customers require it, and we will plan the setup around that.
Will you also help with SEO for the product?
Yes. Our SaaS SEO checklist and the Australia SEO page show how we plan it, and we can set up the marketing site at the same time.
