In short

Liftup Technologies develops ecommerce stores for Italian businesses, working remotely from India with calls booked in your morning. We choose between Shopify, WooCommerce and custom builds, then handle design, catalog setup, IVA, payments, shipping, legal pages and migration. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call, and the store accounts stay in your name.

Choosing the platform

Italian sellers range from a three-product artisan to a distributor with thousands of items and separate B2B price lists. The platform should fit that spread, not the other way round.

What an Italian checkout needs

  • Prices with IVA included for consumers, usually at 22%, with reduced rates for some product types. Set the rate per product with your accountant.
  • Familiar payment methods: cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and where integrations exist, Satispay or buy-now-pay-later options. Cash on delivery (contrassegno) is still offered by some Italian sellers, with a fee.
  • Invoice fields for business buyers: Partita IVA, codice fiscale, and codice destinatario or PEC for electronic invoices.
  • Clear delivery times and carriers, including island and remote-area surcharges where they apply.
  • A 14-day right of withdrawal for consumer purchases, shown in the terms and returns page, and the statutory conformity rights (garanzia legale) described accurately.

Payment options depend on the platform and provider. We check what is currently available and approved for your business before quoting.

Whatever platform you pick, plan the catalog first. Clean product data, consistent variants and good photos matter more than the theme. We help you structure sizes, colors, bundles and B2B prices before any page is designed, because fixing a messy catalog later costs more than organizing it at the start.

Selling beyond Italy

Many Italian makers want German, French or UK customers. That adds choices: language versions with hreflang, local prices, shipping zones and tax. Within the EU, sales to consumers in other member states can bring the One-Stop Shop IVA scheme into play, which your commercialista should set up. Marketplaces such as Amazon.it can sit beside your own shop. We plan the shop so a new country is a configuration task, not a rebuild.

Shipping deserves early attention. Italian buyers expect tracked delivery with a stated time window, and many expect free shipping above a threshold. We configure carriers, zones, islands and pickup points, and show the real cost before checkout, since surprise charges are a common reason for abandoned carts.

Accessibility and consent

The European Accessibility Act applies from 28 June 2025 to many online shops, and we build to WCAG 2.2 AA: keyboard-friendly menus and checkout, clear form labels, readable contrast. Analytics and advertising tags follow the Garante's 2021 cookie guidelines, which means a banner where rejecting is as easy as accepting. Check with your lawyer whether any exemption applies to a very small business. Our GDPR website checklist is a good preparation list.

Speed matters as well. Slow category pages lose mobile shoppers, and many Italian stores load heavy sliders and chat widgets. We set a performance budget at the start and test it on a mid-range phone, so the shop stays light after apps and tracking are added.

Project steps

  1. Scope and platform choiceCatalog, markets, payments, shipping and integrations on one call.
  2. Fixed quoteWithin one working day, split into design, setup, migration and launch.
  3. Design and buildWeekly demos on a staging store with sample products in Italian.
  4. Test ordersEvery payment method, shipping rate, tax case and email is tested.
  5. Launch and handoverRedirects, search setup, training and a documented store.

India is 4.5 hours ahead of Rome in winter and 3.5 hours ahead in summer. Calls happen in your morning, and a single lead contact manages feedback.

Payment testing includes failed cards, canceled PayPal returns and refund flows. We also check order emails in Italian, stock handling when two people buy the last item, and how the shop behaves on a slow phone connection. Only then do we plan the launch date.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and the rate is $30 an hour. After a short call you get a fixed quote within one working day. Number of products and variants, payment and shipping integrations, languages and custom features move the price. Platform fees, apps and payment fees are paid by you directly. See the ecommerce website cost guide and the service page on ecommerce solutions. Quotes are in US dollars.

Questions, answered

Which platform is best for an Italian shop?
It depends on catalog size, content needs and budget. Shopify suits fast, low-maintenance launches. WooCommerce suits content-led shops. We explain the trade-off after a short call.
Can you migrate my existing shop?
Yes. Products, customers and orders move across, and old URLs are redirected to protect search traffic.
Can the shop issue invoices?
It collects the fields and passes orders to your invoicing tool. The legal invoice follows Italian electronic invoicing rules, confirmed with your accountant.
Do you handle B2B price lists?
Yes, through customer groups, login-only prices or a custom portal. See web app development in Italy for larger needs.
Who owns the store?
You do. The platform, payment and domain accounts are yours.
