In short

Liftup Technologies builds and fixes WordPress and WooCommerce sites for Spanish businesses, working remotely from India. Scope covers custom themes, Spanish locale and multilingual setup, aviso legal and cookie consent, speed, security hardening and plugin selection. Your team can edit the content. Projects start at $1,500, and a fixed quote follows a short call.

Why many Spanish businesses stay with WordPress

WordPress runs a large share of small and medium business sites worldwide, and it is common among Spanish agencies, freelancers and in-house teams. That means finding people who can edit it is easy. The risk is the opposite: sites built on a stack of unreviewed plugins that nobody updates.

We build WordPress sites to be maintained. Fewer plugins, a clean theme, a documented setup, and updates that are tested before they go live. Our WordPress development service covers the general method.

Spanish-language WordPress also has a practical quirk: many themes and plugins ship with partial Spanish translations, so some labels stay in English. We check every visible string, including form errors, cart messages and emails.

Setting WordPress up for Spain

SettingWhat we doWhy it matters
Site languageSet the locale to es_ES, not a Latin American variantCorrect date formats, translated admin strings and theme text
MultilingualA language plugin or separate sites for Spanish and Catalan, Basque or GalicianEach language needs its own URLs and hreflang
Legal pagesAviso legal, privacy and cookie policy pages linked in the footerLSSI-CE and GDPR expectations
ConsentA cookie banner that blocks non-essential scripts until consentAEPD guidance on cookies
FormsConsent checkbox, link to privacy policy, spam protectionGDPR notice at the point of collection
WooCommerceTax settings for IVA, euro formatting, shipping zones, withdrawal informationSpanish consumer expectations

We test the consent banner by loading the site with the network panel open. A banner that looks right but lets analytics fire early is a common failure.

Core Web Vitals are another focus. Google publishes thresholds for loading, interaction and layout stability, and a WordPress site with heavy sliders and many plugins often fails them on mobile. We fix the cause, not only the score, by removing what is not needed.

Plugins, performance and security

Every plugin is code someone must keep updated. We pick well-supported plugins, check how recently they were updated, and avoid duplicates. For speed, we use a lightweight theme, optimized images and caching, and we measure with Google's tools on a mobile connection.

  • Admin accounts use strong passwords and two-factor login, and unused accounts are removed.
  • Automatic backups are stored away from the web host and restored in a test.
  • Updates are applied on a staging copy first.
  • File editing in the admin area is disabled, and the login page is rate limited.

Our WordPress security checklist lists the items. If your site is already slow or hacked, we start with a cleanup and a report before any new build.

Page builders can help editors but add weight. We use them where the team needs freedom to build pages, and plain block templates where speed matters more. The choice is made per site, not by habit.

Accessibility and editing

The European Accessibility Act applies from 28 June 2025 to many online shops and consumer services, so a WooCommerce store should be built with accessible markup. We target WCAG 2.2 AA, check forms and navigation by keyboard, and give editors guidance so new content does not break it, such as alt text and heading order.

We also set up the editing experience around your team. Page templates, reusable blocks and clear field labels in Spanish mean a person can add a product or a news item without calling us.

Sites that handle bookings or sales also need a clear data retention rule. Old form entries and abandoned carts pile up in the database, so we set an automatic clean-up and document it in the privacy policy.

How a project runs from India

  1. Audit or briefFor existing sites we review plugins, speed and security. For new ones we agree pages and features.
  2. Staging buildA private staging site you can open at any time.
  3. ReviewA weekly call in the Spanish morning, with notes sent afterwards.
  4. LaunchBackups, redirects, consent and forms checked before DNS changes.
  5. HandoverAdmin accounts, documentation and a recorded editing walkthrough.

Time-zone planning is simple: Spain is three and a half hours behind India in summer and four and a half in winter.

After launch, you can take a maintenance plan at $30 an hour as needed, or manage updates yourselves with our checklist. The website maintenance checklist shows the monthly jobs.

Price

Projects start at $1,500, and extra work is $30 an hour. The number of templates, languages and integrations moves the quote. The WordPress website cost guide explains the drivers. For a fixed quote, use the contact page. Hosting, premium plugin licenses and your domain are separate costs. Prices are in US dollars.

Questions, answered

Should I choose WordPress or Shopify for a Spanish store?
It depends on who will run it and how much custom logic you need. See our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison.
Can you fix a slow or hacked WordPress site?
Yes. We start with a cleanup and a report, then decide whether to repair or rebuild.
Can the site be in Spanish and Catalan?
Yes. We set up separate language URLs, hreflang and a language switcher, and a native speaker should review translations.
Do you host the site?
We can recommend hosting and set it up, but the account stays in your name.
Do you have a Spanish office?
No. We work remotely from India, with offices in Pune, Coventry and New York.
