In short

Liftup Technologies provides technical SEO for Austrian websites, working remotely from India. An audit covers crawling, indexing, site speed, structured data, hreflang for de-AT and the effect of consent banners. We deliver a ranked list of fixes with evidence, and can implement them in your CMS or with your developer. A fixed quote follows a short call.

What a technical audit checks

Technical SEO is the layer under content and links. If Google cannot reach, render or understand a page, nothing written on it matters. Austrian sites often share the same issues: old URLs left over from a redesign, duplicate pages from filters and tracking parameters, heavy images, and scripts that load before the cookie banner is answered.

AreaWhat we look atTypical finding
Crawlingrobots.txt, sitemaps, server logs, redirect chainsRedirect chains of three or four hops after several relaunches
IndexingCoverage in Search Console, canonicals, noindex tagsFilter pages indexed, key category pages missing
SpeedCore Web Vitals on mobile, image weight, third-party scriptsOversized hero images and chat widgets slowing the first screen
Languagehreflang, de-AT or de wording, language switcherMissing return tags, English and German pages not linked
Structured dataOrganization, Product, FAQ, breadcrumbsSchema present but invalid or out of date
Security and legalHTTPS, Impressum page reachable, consent behaviorTags firing before consent, mixed content warnings

Our technical SEO checklist lists the full set of checks.

Log files are a useful extra when the hosting allows them. They show which URLs Googlebot actually requests, how often, and where it wastes time, which is hard to see from a crawl alone.

Austrian language and domain points

Austrian German is close to German in Germany but not identical. A page that says Jänner, Marillen or Erdäpfel matches how Austrians type. Many sites still serve one German version to both countries, which is fine for guides and products with no local wording, but weak for shops and local services.

If you run several versions, hreflang tells Google which one suits which user. A de-AT page should refer to a de-DE page and an English page, and each must refer back. Our hreflang generator helps produce the tags. On domains, a .at address signals Austria clearly. Registration rules are set by nic.at, and you should check current terms there before choosing a domain.

Local wording also affects titles and headings. A shop that sells to Austrians should check its main titles for Austrian terms, because that is how customers type queries on google.at.

Speed and consent banners

Core Web Vitals on mobile are a ranking input and a conversion factor. We test pages with real-world field data where it exists and with lab tools where it does not. Typical gains come from image formats and sizes, font loading, removing unused scripts and delaying chat and review widgets.

The consent banner is a technical topic as well. It should be light, load fast and not cause layout shifts. Scripts that need consent should stay blocked until it is given, which is both a GDPR point and a performance gain. The Datenschutzbehörde has published decisions on analytics tools, so ask your lawyer which setup is acceptable for you. Our Core Web Vitals check is a free starting point.

Migrations and relaunches

The riskiest moment for a site is a relaunch. URLs change, content is merged and redirects are forgotten. Before launch we map every old URL to a new one, test the redirects on a staging copy and prepare a monitoring list for the first weeks. After launch we compare Search Console data with the baseline and fix losses quickly. The website migration checklist covers the steps.

  • Crawl the old site and export every indexable URL.
  • Map each URL to its new address, or to the closest match.
  • Keep titles, headings and internal links aligned where content is unchanged.
  • Submit the new sitemap and watch the coverage report daily at first.

How we work and what it costs

The audit comes as a written report with screenshots, affected URLs and a priority for each fix. We can implement changes in WordPress, Shopify or custom code, or give your developer a clear ticket list. Calls are in Vienna mornings, which is 13:30 or 14:30 in Pune depending on the season. We have no Austrian office.

Projects start at $1,500 and extra work is $30 an hour. The size of the site and the number of languages move the quote. See the technical SEO service page and the SEO cost guide.

After the first round of fixes, we recheck the same pages and report what changed, so the audit does not end as a PDF that nobody reads.

Questions, answered

How long does a technical audit take?
Small sites take a few days and large shops a couple of weeks. We give a time estimate after seeing the site.
Do you fix issues or only report them?
Both options exist. We can implement fixes directly or hand a ticket list to your developer.
Will fixing technical issues raise rankings?
It removes barriers, but results also depend on content and competition. We report changes in Search Console and do not promise positions.
Is hreflang needed if we only serve Austria?
Not if there is one German version for one country. It matters when you run several language or country versions.
Can you check our site after a redesign?
Yes. A post-launch check finds broken redirects, lost pages and speed regressions while they are still cheap to fix.
